Yes, years of fruitless talks finally led to the agreement between Apple and China Mobile, and are going to work together and sell iPhone to the very eager 760 million mobile users in China.

Apple and China Market

Apple seems to have gained ground as the world’s largest Smartphone market and even the Apple share market rose in the fourth quarter of the last year, thanks to the strong demand for the new iPhone 5S according to the latest market research. Even the IDC’s research shows the shares in mainland china also rose to 7% in the quarter from 6% right in the third quarter. Interestingly the fourth quarter filled with the first full quarter on the launch of the iPhone 5S and the 5C in China and on the same day they got launched in the US among other markets. In the past, the scenario was different when the iPhone got launched first in the US.

Apple’s market strategy

Starting with the launch of the iPhone, when it was released in 2007 it was considered another over-priced Apple product. In fact, when the first version of these iPhones came to the Chinese market, there actually was no official distributor in china. Even still it was being seen in the more trendy parts of Beijing and Shanghai and soon became popular with the local Chinese market, which now are having more disposable income to spend than what their parents had and who would not want to flaunt their flashy status in front of their friends. Though these handsets were iPhone-unlocked versions that had to be cracked in Hong Kong, they were more than welcome by the urban Chinese.
