The increasing mobile internet market

In China, with more and more people use their mobile phone to surf online, half pages viewed(PV) on Internet are viewed via mobile devices.

From the chart below, we can see the the number of mobile users are increasing at a higher speed than PC users in the past 2 years. From July, 2010, the increase of mobile Internet users keeps a higher speed than that of PC users and its increase is accelerating.

Which group of people increases the number of mobile internet users?

Mobile Internet user and PC Internet users are not only different in the devices they use to browse the Internet, but also very different from each other in terms of times of the day they surf online.

According to a report recently released by Baidu,  more users accessing the Internet via mobile device than PC between 7 to 10 AM in the morning and between 9 to 12 PM at night. It shows the mobile advantage “wherever and whenever”. In addition, mobile Internet usage peaks at 10PM, on the other hand, PC Internet usage peaks at 8PM. This suggests that mobile netizens tend to be younger than PC netizens and stay up later at night because in China, younger generation, born after 1980s, 1990s, usually stay later in night.

What does that mean?

If the page of your website can attract as many visitors from mobile as PC, there’s no doubt it’s the time to make mobile online promotion.

Meanwhile, mobile web surfers are a special group of people. Usually they are young, born after 1980s, or 1990s and they are now the main consumer groups in China.
